HAZZAH! The Medieval Fair was a huge success!

WOW! What a weekend it has been at the Norman Medieval Fair. A big THANK YOU for all of our volunteers who cae out to help, especially those who braved the rain and cold weather on Saturday. We made over $300 in 3 days and received 3 applications to adopt- all by Sunday at closing time! What a huge success and we couldn't have done it without Amanda and Adam Przymus! They organized the whole thing and we thank them for all their hard work! We were able to spread the greyhound word to so many visitors and we all know that educating the community is the best way to find potential adoptive and foster homes for our sweet greyhounds.

As Amanda would say...HAZZAH and THANK YOU to the generous donators!!!

Such fun at On A Whim!

Our event at On A Whim was so much fun and thank you to all those that came out to meet our sweet greyhounds! We feel that we raised a lot of awareness for our cause and hope to see some familiar faces apply to adopt or foster very soon!

Thank you to On A Whim for hosting this event! Mark your calendars for April 24th - we will once again show off our lovely greys and they will offer 20% off to anyone who donates $20 or more to Hounds of the Heartland. What a deal! Reminders will be sent via Yahoo Group list and On A Whim e-mail list.

What accent does your dog have?

The very scientific poll results are in!

A random selection of our visitors answered the question "If your dog could talk, what accent would he/she have?" A whopping forty-three percent (43%) said their dog would have a British accent, with an American accent trailing closely behind at thirty-seven percent (37%). Two percent (2%) of your dogs would speak French and only one percent (1%) of them would speak Italian.

Very interesting and useful info- wouldn't you say?

Huzzah! The Norman Medieval Fair is upon us!

Thou art formally invited to the 34th annual Medieval Fair of Norman, OK!

Held annually since 1976, this event relives the Middle Ages with arts and crafts, food, games, jousting tournaments, human chess games, costume contests, and more.
Entertainment for the whole family includes minstrels, dancing, theater and reenactments, jugglers, magicians, knights jousting on horseback and human chess games. Brightly costumed characters include King Arthur, mermaids, and the fair's king and queen.

ADMISSION IS FREE!

The Medieval Fair of Norman is the state's largest weekend event and the third largest event in Oklahoma, and was selected by Events Media Network as one of the top 100 events in the nation.

Browse through the medieval village of over 200 art and craft booths offering unique and handcrafted wares. Offerings include pottery, wood crafts, stained glass, armor, costumes, fairy wings, jewelry, leather crafts, hair garlands, and much more. Watch master crafters demonstrating their skills!

The fair will be held Friday, March 26th thru Sunday, March 28th from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM in Reaves Park of Norman. We had a lot of success last year and hope to once again reach thousands with our message about greyhound adoption!

We are recruiting volunteers to staff the Hounds of the Heartland booth! It is required that any volunteer wear appropriate Renaissance garb and what fun that will be!

Please contact Amanda Przymus at (405) 701-8940 to sign up for a 3 hour shift to help spread the word about our noble greyhounds!

Shifts available are:

Friday, Saturday & Sunday:
10:00 - 1:00
1:00 - 4:00
4:00 - 7:00

Tips for Renaissance Attire:
-No bright colors (earth tones only... no purple please!)
-No halloween costumes (natural fibers please)

Some costuming pieces will be available at the booth. Enough to cover 2-3 adults at a time. We will also try to have a couple tunics available for our "small" volunteers :) However if you are able to provide your own garb that is wonderful! Below is a pattern for a simple renaissance style tunic.

Spotlight on Maggie!

**Maggie has been adopted!**

Here is what Maggie's foster family has to say about her:

Maggie is a sweet, small 2 ½ year old girl, she loves attention and will beg you to come and pet her. She is playful and energetic but quickly runs out of energy, she wants so bad to be a lap dog but we are trying our best to keep that from happening. She is very sensitive and just a slight correction when she does something wrong goes a long way. She crates very well, sleeps through the night, is cat safe, and is house trained.

If you are interested in meeting Maggie, please give us a call or e-mail! We would love to arrange a meeting.

Maggie crawled into the front seat and took a little nap while her foster dad helped clean up after our event... precious!! She was exhausted after all the attention she received.

Show & Tell event @ Paws Around Town!

Thanks to everyone who volunteered to come educate about greyhound adoption! We showed almost ALL our foster dogs off at this one event. Wow! Thanks guys!

Spotlight on Leo!

**Leo has been adopted!**

Leo is a happy boy who loves to play with toys- he even knows how to fetch! He loves toys so much that if you throw them he will keep bringing them back to you. He is child safe so he would be great for a family with young children. He would probably be best in a home with no cats as he has a tendency to chase them outside. He is going to make a wonderful pet for a special family!

"Bad to the Bone!"

If you would like to meet Leo, please Contact us or if you are interested in adopting please fill out our Application for Adoption. Thanks!
